Meditations and guided imagery are wonderful tools, not only for stress reduction but for living a more successful life. In order for these tools to be most effective, they need to be used consistently. Just like exercise works your muscles to increase and maintain strength and tone, meditation works the muscle of your focus and awareness.
What do we do? We can’t make the world slow down for us. We can’t tell everyone to stop expecting us to show up and perform. But, what we can do is release, relax and bring forward a better version of ourselves. A version that is more present and more skillful. How do we do this? Through the regular use of meditation and/or guided imagery.
Whatever we focus on in life and in ourselves becomes magnified.
By taking control of the contents of our own awareness through meditation, we decide what we will magnify, what in our lives we will empower. Positive self-image, creative thinking, radiant presence, and excellent communication skills are just a few of the areas that can be developed by the use of meditation and guided imagery.
Why should I meditate?
Life is stressful – Your brain needs oxygen to function correctly. When we are stressed, our muscle tension uses up a tremendous amount of the oxygen we are breathing in. We also “shallow breathe” when we are stressed, giving us even less oxygen. So, stress makes us less effective at everything in our lives: work, relationships, play, study, and even sleep. Let’s face it, stress makes us stupid.
- Enhance your creativity
- Enhance communication skills
- Increase feelings of well-being
- Promote restful sleep
- Life is more meaningful
- Increased focus and concentration
- Accelerates healing
- Promotes coordination
- Strengthen connection to inner wisdom
